Deafening ROAR of the F1 car

If you would like to hear the deafening roar from the Formula One cars as they came round the bend and turning into to Marina Bay Grand Stand area, turn up the volume on your computer and click on the enclosed video to watch the small video clip I made during yesterday's qualifying race.

Singapore F1 Night Race – Qualifying Round

During yesterday's qualifying race, I could really feel the intensity of the competition starting to build up! There were more cars over-taking each other and cornering were taken at such high speed.

I saw a Renault car spin out of control at the start of Esplanade Bridge with another car following very closely behind! Before the Marshal could even raise the yellow flag for the following car to slow down, the skilful driver spin the car 180 degree around and with a loud roar of the engine he sped off within split-second and avoiding a collision with the car behind! This is really a showcase of the skilful driver's fast reaction and world class driving skill!

Two of my German friends, Dominque and Julia, were also here in Singapore to catch the F1 races. Welcome to Singapore again! I really enjoy myself at the F1 races for the past two days and I believed for tonight's final, there will be even more excitement!

Singapore F1 Night Race - Practice Session

After much anticipation, the Singapore F1 is finally here. There were many people and there were barricades everywhere. Safety wise, it is good to have the barricades but for photographer (at least for me) the barricades were very irritating! Every time I try to take a picture there were barricades in my way.

Although I paid two hundred over dollars for a grand stand seat, I found myself walking around more than sitting at my seat! I'm constantly moving around trying to find a spot to take pictures and to avoid the barricades. In future, I will only buy the cheaper walk-around tickets!

There were stores selling F1 merchandise but it is very expensive. Lots of people bought T-shirts, Caps and Toy-Bears. As for me? Well, I just settled for pictures of the merchandises!

After the race, it is quite chaotic to get out. There were people everywhere but no clear signage to direct the crowds out of the race area! Hopefully tonight and tomorrow, there will be better crowd control!

Saving rain water

While I was filming the swaying tree outside my house this morning, I heard some pitter patter sound coming from below. I thought something was leaking so I peep over the balcony to take a look.

Well, guess what I saw? I saw an out-stretched arm out of the balcony below holding a pail to collect rain water! I thought it would make an interesting shot so I captured the following footage as well.

Gusty Wind

When I was having my breakfast this morning, it suddenly started raining heavily and there were gusty wind too! The tree outside my house was swaying around vigorously! I managed to capture a small video footage of the swaying tree with my Nokia E71 phone's camera.

How I wished I could stay home and go back to bed?! Sadly it was a Wednesday morning and I had to finish up my breakfast and prepare to go to work!

There goes my milk

I have always enjoyed drinking Dutch Lady's banana and strawberry flavour milk and would drink at least 1 or 2 bottles every 3 weeks. The recent news on melamine tainted milk scare has robbed me of my favourite milk!

When the news were first announced on television, my sister immediately gave me a call and asked me to throw away all the remaining bottles of Dutch Lady Milk. I had about 8 bottles in the fridge - two bottles of strawberry flavour milk and six bottles of banana flavour milk. Even though it hurts to throw away something I loved but for the sake of my health, I have thrown away all 8 bottles!

I'm sad to learn that some babies have died after drinking contaminated milk. Hopefully, manufacturers could exercise more diligence in future!

Formula One Fever

With only 5 days left to Singapore Formula One Night Race, the F1 fever is hitting all time high in Singapore! Every day when you turn on the television or read the newspapers you will inevitability find news or promotions on the Singapore Formula One.

This is Singapore's and the World's first F1 night race. In the past, Singapore had held some races along the Old Thompson Road, my dad and his friends would climb up the slope along the race track to watch the races for free. Nowadays, there are so many barricades setup along the race route, it would be difficult to watch the races for free!

So unlike my dad, I ended up paying $200 plus for a Grand Stand seat along Marina Bay. As I'm also catching the F1 fever, I also bought a few of the F1 toy cars from the 7-Eleven stores. So in case I couldn't catch the F1 cars close-up with my camera, I could still come home to play with my F1 toy cars. Vroom vroom vroom, gentleman starts your engine!
