Waterfest at Marina Bay

This evening I am as red as a lobster. Why?

Well, it is because I spend the whole morning and early afternoon baking in the sun! I have an enjoyable time taking photos at the Marina Bay Waterfest. There were performances by Stars of China Professional Waterski team, Waterboard and Wakestate Rail Jam, Jet Ski competition and Doggie Agility Show. If you are not keen on taking photo, there were also Banana Boat rides, Sailing Boat rides, Jet Ski rides and fanfare for you to take part.

I love the water ski performances by the China team and the Jet Ski competition. The water ski team made all the difficult stunts look like child play and the incredible speed of the Jet Ski really give me the thrill! Here are some pictures to share with you. Enjoy!!

Baby Kenji Full Month Celebration

Today is my colleague's (Shirleen) baby boy (Kenji) full month celebration. The adults were enjoying the good food and mingling with each other. The kids were also enjoying themselves, eating chicken wings and chocolates and running around the swimming pool.

Handsome Kenji being carried by Jean.

A wonderful mum (Shirleen) took the effort to wrap up the eggs, tie ribbons and writing well wishes on the ribbons for her son's (Kenji) full month celebration.

Denise enjoying her chicken wing.

A loving father (Eric) playing with his younger daughter by the pool.

A caring Mr. Bong sharing a chocolate with his son (Ryan).

Jane and Jessie chatting and laughing heartily.

Firework At Marina Bay

Yesterday my colleague Alfred Tan managed to get two tickets for viewing the firework at Marina Bay Floating Platform and he is very kind to invite me along for the viewing. As usual I packed my camera and walked over to Marina Bay after work with Alfred. We have very good seats and the firework is very spectacular. The only complain is there is too much smoke!
I only managed to get a few satisfactory pictures. Here are some pictures to share.

The Art Of Eating Durian

Why is eating durian an Art? Well, like a piece of Art, you will either appreciate it or hate it! It is an exquisite taste, those who love it would really enjoy it and those who hate it will not even give it a second look.

Here is how my family members choose and eat their durian:

Step 1: Pick up a durian and make sure it has a strong aroma.

Step 2: Cannot just buy 1, must buy at least 12 so the whole family could enjoy!

Step 3: There is no rule on how to open up your durian, you may use a spoon....

Step 4: You may also use a chopper......

Step 5: You could even pry it open with your brute force and bare hands!

Step 6: As long as you could get to the delicious durian inside the thorny husk, no one really cares how you open up your durian

Step 7: Now comes the moment of truth! Pick a durian with your thumb and index finger...

Step 8: ......and stick it inside your mouth!

Step 9: You have strike jackpot when your durian is yellowish and a little bitter!

Step 10: Being a family, it is courteous to keep aside some for the members who are not in at the moment. Cleanliness is also very important, we must use a spoon instead of fingers to scoop up the durian for storing away!

Step 11: Make sure only air-tight Tupperware is used for storing the durian. This is to prevent the aroma from escaping. You could now keep the durian in the refrigeration for rest of the family members!

Finally, it is a good practise to ensure that all the delicious durian fruits were emptied from the husk in order not to waste fruits!

Singapore National Day 2007

Today is 9th of August 2007 and it is Singapore's 42nd Birthday.

Happy Birthday Singapore!

May we always have peace, happiness, prosperity and progress
in this beautiful city of ours!

Turn Left Turn Right

Last Sunday I was watching a movie "向左走,向右走" acted by Takeshi Kaneshiro (金城武) and Gigi Leung (梁咏琪) where actor Takeshi acted as an aspiring violinist. The movie gives me an inspiration to take a series of pictures of a violin.

I remembered my cousin bought a $3000 violin a while ago and is currently taking up violin lessons so I went over to my uncle’s house and asked if I could take pictures of the violin. I took a series of Coloured and Black-and-White pictures of the violin using available light from my uncle’s bedroom window.

I was pretty happy with the violin pictures but I realised I’m missing an essence of a violin – a violinist. Yup, an expensive violin by itself is of no use. It needs a good violinist to bring out the beautiful melody that it is capable of producing!

Who else is good enough to play the violin other than my very own cousin?! Hence I took another series of pictures of my cousin with the violin. Together they form a perfect harmony!
