A Rainy Saturday Morning

Every Saturday morning I always wake up around 6.15am and get ready to meet my Uncle 子干for our morning walk at MacRitchie Reserviour. While I was having my breakfast this morning, the sky suddenly turns dark and the cool breeze transform into strong wind causing my wind-chime to ring like crazy. Eventually the rain begins pouring heavily and I received a call from my Uncle to cancel the morning walk. So there goes our morning walk.......

I was staring out the windows looking helplessly
at the heavy down pour and thinking to myself
"Why did the rain comes so early and rob me
of my morning walk?".

As I was looking at the rain splashing on my window, something in the corner of my eyes catches my attention.

I noticed when the rain water roll down my
window pane little droplets started forming at
the base of the window. I thought since I couldn't go for my morning walk and I couldn't get back to sleep, I might as well take some pictures of the water droplets with my Micro lens. It was this inspiration that triggers off a series of rainy day pictures.

My mum's laundry pole cover takes on a refreshing look in the rain.

My neighbour's flower completely drenched
in the rain.

A water droplet on my mum's plant.

In the mist of my picture taking, I heard some inconsiderate drivers sounding their car horns loudly breaking the silent and peacefulness of a rainy Saturday morning. As I took a peek from my balcony I saw a bride groom and his bride about to leave in their bridal car.

As the entourage started moving off, a lady holding an umbrella waving to the leaving couples captured my attention. I quickly dismount my camera from the tripod and fired off a shot before the bridal car sped off.

When I reviewed the images on my camera only did I realised that my camera's shutter speed was so slow that the VR on the lens couldn't prevent my picture from blurring. It was all too late, the moment is gone forever. The car has left and the lady is no longer there for me to take a second shot. I name this picture "A lady dancing in the rain".

Despite the rain and the lost moment picture, I must admit that I did enjoyed my Saturday morning taking pictures around my house and to start this very first blog on 7th July 2007(07-07-07)!

Hi Nicole, I'm flattered!

Hi Sherry,
Do consider getting an DSLR where you find there's limitation on your point-and-shoot camera. Even a low end Canon 400D or Nikon 40X is capable of taking very good pictures. You have more control over your pictures exposure and a vast array of lenses to cater for all occassion when you use a DSLR : )
