Mt Faber

Last Saturday, I was down at Vivo City to attend a Portrait Photography Talk by Straits Times Mr. Alan Lim. The talk was organised by Samsung and the main purpose of the talk was to promote Samsung new compact digital camera. As predicted, there wasn’t much pointers I could pick up from the talk itself but it is interesting to learn how other photographers approach their subject.

I brought along my new Canon 5D MKII with a 24-105mm lens because I planned to climb up Mt. Faber after the talk to photograph some spectacular sunsets. As luck has it, there was a heavy downfall during the talk and the weather wasn’t looking promising to have a good sunset. Nonetheless, I climbed the staircase up to Mt. Faber after taking some pictures around Vivo City.

Just as I reached the top of the hill, there was a break in the dark cloud and the sunrays began streaming through the dark cloud casting a silvery-gold reflection on the water surface. The scene is very spectacular and I felt happy that I made the climb. Even though, the sunset was rather disappointing because the sun was shaded by some dark clouds in the horizon, I’m happy that I managed to capture some shots that I love.
